To date, there are 88 UNO musicians (alumni, adjuncts, and current students/faculty/staff) appearing at the Fairgrounds in over 150 performances, and on every stage, on every day – and there will be more to come!
Friday, April 25
11:10 am-12:00 pm – Acura Stage. VIVAZ! includes adjunct faculty David Phyon trombone and Ashlin Parkeron trumpet. Ashlin is also a UNO alum.
11:25 am-12:15 pm – Samsung Galaxy Stage. Current student and ace drummer Anthony Cuccia keeps the rhythm turning for Rotary Downs.
12:20 pm-1:10 pm – Zatarain’s/WWOZ Jazz Tent. Cuban percussion master and current undergraduate student Alexey Marti leads his band Urban Minds.
12:40 PM-1:25 pm – Kid’s Tent. Master’s degree student Claudia Baumgarten is going places as Miss Claudia and her Terrific Traveling Troubadours.
1:30 pm – 2:20 pm – Zatarain’s/WWOZ Jazz Tent. Alumnus Calvin Johnson, Jr.adds to the sax mania of Roger Lewis’s Baritone Bliss.
2:05 pm – 3:05 pm – Samsung Galaxy Stage . Honey Island Swamp Band gets help on the trombone from UNO alumnus Greg Hicks.
2:20 pm-3:30 pm – Lagniappe Stage. It’s a family reunion with alumna Sasha Masakowski ; her band includes her father, UNO Coca-Cola Endowed Chair of Jazz Studies professor and guitarist Steve Masakowski, and her brother, former UNO student and bassist Martin Masakowski.
2:35 pm-3:25 pm – Zatarain’s/WWOZ Jazz Tent. UNO jazz voice instructor Leah Chaseheadlines her band, which includes UNO alum and current bass teacher Peter Harris.
3:00 pm-4:00 pm – Peoples Health Economy Hall Tent. Drum instructor Herman LeBeauxand alumnus Khari Allen Leeare members of Jamil Sharif’s group.
4:00 pm-5:20 pm – Zatarain’s/WWOZ Jazz Tent. The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra is led by former student and New Orleans Jazz Institute director Irvin Mayfield, and includes current students Gregory Agidand Emily Fredrickson, alumni Leon “Kid Chocolate” Brown, Eric Lucero, Michael Watson, David Harris, Khari Allen Lee, Rex Gregory, Oliver Bonie, and Jason Weaver; alumnus and current adjunct trumpet teacher Ashlin Parker, and two Jazz Studies faculty members: Al Beletto Endowed Professor Ed Petersenand Danny Barker Endowed Professor Victor Atkins III.
4:10 pm – 5:15 pm Jazz and Heritage Stage. Kirk Joseph’s Backyard Groove includes alumnus Calvin Johnson, Jr.
4:25 pm-5:40 pm – Peoples Health Economy Hall Tent. Tricia Boutte and UNO graduate Paul Longstrethpresent the group Norway’s Gumbo.
5:05 pm-5:50 pm – Gospel Tent. Alumnus and former graduate assistant Danielle Edinburgh Wilsonsings with Betty Winn and One-A-Chord.

11:25 am-12:20 pm – Samsung Galaxy Stage. The Imagination Movers include Scott Durbin, who earned his graduate teaching certificate from UNO.
12:05 pm-12:45 pm – Gospel Tent. The Archdiocese of New Orleans Mass Choir band includes bassist and current graduate student Brian Quezergue.
12:20 pm-1:10 pm – Zatarains/WWOZ Jazz Tent. UNO graduate Geoff Clappfronts his quintet, which also includes fellow alum David Pulphus.
12:45 pm-1:45 pm – Samsung Galaxy Stage. Raw Oyster Cult includes former UNO student and current rock guitar teacher Camile Baudoin.
12:50 pm-1:50 pm – Congo Square Stage. Pianist Davell Crawford performs with alumnus and current Alvin “Red” Tyler Endowed Professor of Jazz Studies Brian Seegeron guitar.
2:25 pm-3:35 pm – Lagniappe Stage. The Tin Men include the heartful Matt Perrine, director of UNO’s Traditional Jazz Ensemble, on bass and sousaphone.
2:50 pm-3:40 pm – Zatarains/WWOZ Jazz Tent. UNO graduate and trumpeter Jeremy Davenportheadlines with his band.
3:55 pm-5:05 pm – Lagniappe Stage. Kristin Diable and The City includes alumnus and current adjunct faculty member Chris Adkinson guitar.
4:30 pm-5:40 pm – Jazz & Heritage Stage. Los Hombres Calientes heat it up with former student and current Director of the New Orleans Jazz Institute Irvin Mayfield, and current graduate student Ricky Sebastian.
Sunday, April 27
11:10 am-11:50 am – Zatarains/WWOZ Jazz Tent. The UNO Jazz-All Stars, directed by Professor Steve Masakowski, include current students Glenn Hallon trumpet, Miles Berryon tenor saxophone, Gregg Molinarioon guitar, Trey Boudreaux on bass, Peter Varnado on drums, and alumnus and current adjunct faculty member Kris Tokarski on piano. They will perform music by Thelonius Monk.
12:15 pm-1:00 pm – Zatarains/WWOZ Jazz Tent. UNO graduate, saxophonist and former Louis Armstrong Quintet member Khari Allen Leeleads his band, the New Creative Collective. The band also includes alum Geoff Clappon drums and percussion.
1:20 pm-2:20 pm – Zatarains/WWOZ Jazz Tent. The venerable Astral Project includes guitarist Steve Masakowski, UNO’s Coca-Cola Endowed Chair of Jazz Studies.
2:00 pm-2:45 pm – Allison Miner Music Heritage Stage. Blues musician Henry Gray is interviewed by MFA graduate and author Karen Celestan. Celestan co-wrote the acclaimed autobiography “Unfinished Blues” with Jazz Studies professor emeritus Harold Battiste.
2:05 pm-3:00 pm – Samsung Galaxy Stage. Bonerama includes UNO alum, Saints fan and former Louis Armstrong Quintet member Greg Hickson trombone.
2:30 pm-3:30 pm – Lagniappe Stage. LosOtros includes alumni Eduardo Tozzattoon keyboards, Leon “Kid Chocolate” Brown on trumpet, and Gabriel Velascoon drums.
2:40 pm-3:40 pm – Zatarains/WWOZ Jazz Tent. Adjunct professor Herman LeBeauxplays drums with John Boutte.
3:55 pm-5:00 pm – Lagniappe Stage. Country music superstar songwriter Jim McCormickperforms with Beatinpath. McCormick earned his MFA in poetry from UNO.
4:05 pm-5:05 pm – Blues Tent. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band gets its blues on with help from UNO graduate Mark Braudon trumpet.
4:30 pm-5:40 pm – Peoples Health Economy Hall Tent. Adjunct percussion instructor Herman LeBeauxholds down the rhythm for Dr. Michael White and the Original Liberty Jazz Band.
5:55 pm-7:00 pm – Jazz & Heritage Stage. The New Birth Brass Band includes UNO graduate and current professor Brent Roseon saxophone and Moodle.
6:00 pm-7:00 pm – Zatarains/WWOZ Jazz Tent. Adjunct instructor Delfeayo Marsalisleads his Uptown Jazz Orchestra, which includes several UNO players, including Terrance Taplinon trombone and Meghan Swartzon piano, Jeronne Ansariand Khari Allen Leeon saxophone, and current graduate student Gregory Agidon clarinet .
Thursday, May 1
11 am – 3 pm – WWOZ-FM (90.7, wwoz.org). Music Department manager and MFA alumna Missy Bowen hosts the legendary radio station’s live broadcast of the festival.
11:15 am-12:05 pm – Acura Stage. Current student and drummer Anthony Cuccia anchors the rhythm section for Flow Tribe.
11:20 am-12:00 pm – Gospel Tent. Choral conductor and UNO graduate Clyde Lawrence directs his Eleanor McMain Singing Mustangs.
12:20 pm-1:15 pm – Zatarains/WWOZ Jazz Tent. Alumni and current adjunct professors Ashlin Parker and Chris Adkins perform with Erica Falls and Larry Sieberth. Chris Adkins starts the day as a jazz guitarist, and then…
1:35 pm-2:25 pm – Samsung Galaxy Stage. …in one of the tighter connections a sideman faces, Chris Adkins scoots his boot across the Fairgrounds to rock out with Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue.
3:55 pm-5:05 pm – Lagniappe Stage. The Brazilian-flavored group Chegadao includes several UNO alums, including drummer Nick Solnick, guitarist Scott Myers, bassist Tommy Sciple, pianist Eduardo Tozzatto, drummer Gabriel Velasco, and saxophonist and UNO professor Brent Rose.
4:05 pm- 5:10 pm – Zatarains/WWOZ Jazz Tent. Favorite crooner Philip Manuel sings the Beatles with help from members of Astral Project, including Steve Masakowski, UNO’s Coca-Cola Endowed Chair of Jazz Studies. No word yet if they’ll be covering the White Album.
4:35 pm-5:35 pm – Jazz & Heritage Stage. Bill Summer’s band Jasalza includes alumnus and current adjunct faculty member Ashlin Parkeron the trumpet.
6:00 pm-7:00 pm – Jazz & Heritage Stage. The all-star New Orleans Nightcrawlers close out Thursday’s festival; band members include alumni Jason Mingledorff, Rick Trolsen, and UNO professor Brent Roseand adjunct faculty member Matt Perrine.
Friday, May 2

1:35 PM-2:25 pm – Zatarains/WWOZ Jazz Tent. The Woodshed session focuses on vibes, and features adjunct faculty member Jason Marsalis.
2:30 pm – 3:40 pm – Lagniappe Stage . Alumnus Cliff Samuel-Hinesis one of the Cardinal Sons.

1:35 pm-2:45 pm – Acura Stage. The legendary composer and performer Allen Toussaint features UNO drum instructor Herman LeBeaux.
2:30 pm-3:30 pm – Zatarains/WWOZ Jazz Tent. Professor Emeritus and UNO Jazz Studies Program pioneer Ellis Marsalisperforms on the piano. Alumnus and current adjunct faculty member Ashlin Parkeraccompanies on trumpet.

11:15 pm-12:00 pm – Zatarains/WWOZ Jazz Tent. The Heritage School of Music is directed by alumnus and former Louis Armstrong Quintet member Derek Douget. Current graduate student Ricky Sebastianand alumnus Geoff Clappare among the instructors.
11:20 am-12:05 pm – Acura Stage. Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes include a host of UNO musicians. Alumni Greg “Johnny on the Spot” Hicksand Omar “Johnny Rico” Ramirezhold down the horn section on the trombone and trumpet, respectively, along with UNO guest lecturer Brad “Johnny Come Lately” Walker on sax, while current student Andre “Dirty Johnny” Bohrenrocks the drums and the hairstyles.
